Please try to attend our annual Home Owners Association meeting at 7:30 PM on Wednesday, July 29, 2009.

It will again be held at the Fishers Train Station.

This is an important meeting as several of the HOA members are stepping down this year.

Early Warm Weather Results in Algae in the Ponds

The company that treats our neighborhood ponds is receiving a lot of calls from other neighborhoods about algae. The pond on the north entrance is the worst, and algae is also starting to form in the pond near the walking trail.

As usually happens, the recent warm weather caused an early outbreak of algae. The treatment company is hoping they will be able to start treating our ponds next week, as the water must be at least 55 F for the chemicals to work.

Thanks to the residents who also noticed this problem and please contact us if you see anything else.

Think Spring

Have you been starting to Think Spring yet? If you’re like most people it involves cleaning up and getting rid of a few things.

It’s the beginning of that time of year: Garage Sales. We would like to know if our neighborhood would like to participate in a Spring SCW garage sale. The time frame would be end of April, on a Friday & Saturday. Please contact us if interested in participating. Just like last time, if we have enough people to have a neighborhood sale the HOA will help with advertising in the newspaper and posting local signs.

A ‘thank you’ to those neighbors that have participated and helped in previous years garage sales.

p.s. Please also contact Kevin Hood if you are considering a new deck, swing set, landscaping or other outdoor improvements. Thanks!

Annual Sand Creek Woods Halloween Parade

Please join us for our annual Halloween Party / Parade. Come out dressed up in your costume and join us for some cider and cookies.

When: Sunday, October 26th @ 3 - 5 pm
Where: Common Area (corner of Sand Creek Blvd & Cedar Dr)
Who: Children 12 & Under (parents are welcome, too)

Halloween Trick-or-Treat Hours

Fishers Police Chief George Kehl has announced Trick-or-Treat hours for Halloween. Trick-or-Treat hours will be on Friday, October 31, 2008 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

Chief Kehl offers the following safety tips for Halloween.

• Give and accept wrapped or packaged candy only.
• Only go to houses that you know the owner.
• Have children bring treats home for adult inspection before they are eaten.
• A parent or adult should accompany children when they are trick-or-treating.
• Carry a flashlight.
• Stay within your neighborhood; only visit homes you know.
• Use make-up or face paint instead of masks. If masks are used, make sure the child has good visibility.
• Choose costumes that are flame retardant.
• Wear light-colored clothing, short enough to prevent tripping. Add reflective tape to dark colored costumes.
• Watch for vehicle traffic and use caution when crossing the street.

Police cars will be patrolling the neighborhoods to ensure everyone’s safety. If you see or find anything suspicious, please call the Fishers Police Department at 773-1282 or Emergency 911.

Sand Creek Woods Neighborhood Association Meeting

This is a reminder that there will be a neighborhood association meeting on Wednesday, July 30, 2008. The meeting will be held at the Fishers Train Station. The meeting will start at 7:30pm.

This meeting is very important, as we will be electing the Board of Directors for the upcoming year. If you are interested in a position please contact us.

Interest in SCW Garage Sale

If you were unable to participate in our June neighborhood garage sale, we are considering organizing another one in the fall. If you have any interest in participating please contact Eva Propst by August 25th. The dates being considered are weekend of September 20th or 27th.For our June garage sale, I noticed that more participants were interested in Saturday than Friday. So what I am asking of you is the following:

Which weekend would you prefer?:
September 20th or September 27th

Which days are you more willing to participate?:
Friday & Saturday or Saturday & Sunday

I will send out another e-mail as the RSVP date approaches to let you know whether or not we will have enough people. Based on participation the HOA will consider submitting an ad in the Indy Star and Topics.
