Public Hearing – Tree Removal

Lane

Event Start Date:
June 28, 2018
Event End Date:
June 28, 2018
Event Venue:
City Hall Auditorium

IMPORTANT UPDATE: Date has moved to June 28th at 5pm

It has come to our attention through the city of Fishers that there is a planned development in the process of approval that could effect the character of our neighborhood. The development will consist of three properties and be called Eden Estates.

The major effect this could have is the possible removal of trees that line the back of Cedar Drive. While not all homes will be effected all neighbors should be concerned. One of the major selling points of our neighborhood is that trees line nearly the entire perimeter creating a secluded feeling. The old growth trees are tall enough to be seen by all neighbors, not just the ones who’s properties will directly be effected.

It is the goal of the HOA to maintain the character of our neighborhood and maintain or increase property values. For this reason we are asking all neighbors who are able to attend the public hearing regarding the development. Representatives from the HOA will be there advocating for a restriction on removing the entire tree line. If you come, you do not have to speak but having a large amount of concerned neighbors will help our case.

Our larger concern is that while half of our neighborhood is surrounded by city owned property, the other side is likely to see eventual development as the larger plots get sold and split up. We want to take every opportunity to maintain our tree line.

The public hearing will be held at 5pm on May 24th in the City Hall Auditorium.

UPDATE:

Thank you to all who attending the meeting. The developer has agreed to a 50ft buffer zone of trees that will be left untouched. We are still in discussions about the possible need to connect drainage lines which may result in a small area of trees being removed. This will be in the common area adjacent to the north west corner of the plot of land. We asked that we be notified if this is necessary once all planning has been completed. While this isn’t the perfect outcome the Board feels it is the best we can hope for in maintaining our valued tree line.
